  • Polygon Labs has completed its acquisition of Coinme, adding regulated U.S. money movement to its Open Money Stack. The October 14 announcement puts a completed transaction behind a strategy that connects conventional payment entry points with stablecoin transfers and local-currency payouts.

Polygon’s announcement says its U.S. payments business now covers 48 states through 37 state money transmitter licenses and 11 applicable exemptions. It also reports registration with FinCEN as a money services business. That breakdown matters: the company is describing 48-state coverage, rather than 48 separate licenses.

Open Money Stack combines accounts, wallets, payment routing and settlement. Coinme adds a regulated connection to dollars entering through banks, cards or cash deposits, supporting the parts of a payment that sit alongside the blockchain transfer itself.

  • Polygon names Tazapay, Mesh, Toku and Kira as early adopters. Their stated uses span business payments across borders, funding digital-asset accounts, payroll and access to U.S. dollars. These are different operational tasks, even when stablecoins provide part of the transfer route.

Brian Danga’s report for The Block places the closing within January’s combined acquisition agreement for Coinme and wallet infrastructure company Sequence. The reported $250 million figure covered the combined deal; it should not be presented as a newly disclosed standalone price for Coinme.

Availability also needs care. Polygon describes OMS as live, while The Block reports that its components are operating and the unified integration remains in technical preview for selected customers. The announcement therefore supports a completed acquisition and named deployments, without establishing that every business can immediately obtain every feature through one generally available integration.

  • For payment teams, the development concerns the connection between funds arriving, balances being held and recipients receiving usable money. The next practical evidence will be broader product availability and documented customer payment flows. Polygon’s announcement does not establish a universal approval for every possible configuration or jurisdiction.
