Revolut has received permission in Gibraltar to handle crypto orders, hold customers' virtual assets and provide staking through a new subsidiary, adding a regulated entity to its international crypto business.
The Gibraltar government confirmed the authorization for Revolut Global Digital Assets Limited on Monday, October 19. The permission was granted under Part 7 of the territory's Financial Services Act and covers the transmission and execution of virtual asset orders, custody and staking.
The announcement also brings a practical change for local residents: Revolut has fully resumed accepting new customers in Gibraltar for its electronic money and payments app. The government said residents can open accounts again after work between the company, trade and industry minister Nigel Feetham and the Gibraltar Financial Services Commission.

GBC News: Revolut takes on new customers in Gibraltar
Read source ↗ The crypto subsidiary has a wider intended role. Revolut told The Block that the newly licensed company would support its international crypto operations. It already provides crypto services in the United Kingdom through Revolut Ltd and in the European Economic Area through Revolut Digital Assets Europe Ltd, which operates under the EU's Markets in Crypto-Assets rules.
That structure makes the name of the authorized company consequential. The Gibraltar permission covers Revolut Global Digital Assets Limited; customers elsewhere need the terms and availability of the entity serving their account. Monday's announcement did not identify which additional countries the Gibraltar subsidiary would serve or give dates for those rollouts. Revolut told The Block it would announce the regions and services in due course.
For Gibraltar residents, the confirmed immediate development is restored access to account registration. For the international crypto business, the authorization establishes the activities its new subsidiary can conduct. The announcements leave the product schedule, supported assets and country-by-country availability for later.
